VPN Connection
« on: January 18, 2016, 04:13:30 PM »
Hello all,

I am new to Kodi but already very enthousiastic about the cood-e box.
So far I can get everything to work as I want and need it.

There is only one item which I just can't figure out how this work and google was this time not my best friend.

I want to use a VPN connection, but can't find how to set this up on the cood-e box. Does anyone have a good guide for me?

Any help is appreciated.

Jeremy

Hi Albe,

Depends on what VPN service you use / want to use, the most popular VPN providers usally have their own ADDON for KODI.

So what VPN service do you use, so i can check for you

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your time.
I have not selected a vpn provider yet. I was just figuring out how to configure it on cood-e.
Could you recommend one that will work with cood-e?

I read on another forum about IPVANISH, but couldn't find a kodi add-on on their side.

I tried Datho, they have a kodi addon, but during configuration it had errors that certain android components were missing.

Hi Jeremy,

I just tried it again. tried multiple vpn providers:
- airvpn (using openvpn)
- vpnicity (having a kodi addon)
- datho (having a kodi addon)

all leading to errors. I have the feeling that an android addon is missing.

as indicated before, I am new on kodi, I just can't figure out how this to setup on cood-e.

I can't believe that I am the only one that wants to use a vpn connection. any help, preferably a good step by step manual would be appreciated.

thanks,
albe

YeeeHaaaa, finally got it working.

I managed to get the Datho VPN add-on working.

What I did:
Download and install the following applications in android (other posts on this forum describe how to install apps directly in android:
-VPN Remote Controller APK Download From Google Playstore
-OpenVPN for Android Download From Google Playstore

Download the DathoVPN XBMC add-on for Datho

Start the DathoVPN XBMC add-on, enter your credentials and select a server.

voila.

Still weird that I couldn't get the OPENVPN on XBMC to work, but hey I have a working solution.
