Hardware / Button not working on new COOD-E remote

While the new remote is kinda cool, the down-button of the d-pad isn't working! What to do? Can i activate warranty here?

Also, two downsides:
  • It's glossy. Looks kinda cheap and scratches REALLY easily. Also fingerprints.
  • Keys of the keyboard don't have a 'click', so typing is still a bit sketchy.

Software / COOD-E causing lagspikes?

Hello!

Lateley i've been getting some bad lagspikes in online computer games. After trying everything to find out what causes this, i found it is the COOD-E!

Both the COOD-E and my PC are connected to a switch, which is in turn connected directly to my ISP's modem. It's all gigabit and good cables.

I ran pingtests and output the result to textfiles (ping -n 999999 google.com > c:\pingtestX.txt). I've done 10 of those tests and let them run a couple of minutes. On 5 tests, the COOD-E was off and there is not a single respons that is higher than 16ms. On the other 5 tests, where the COOD-E is on, there are responses of over 1200 and even 2700ms every 50-80 seconds. This makes online gaming impossible.

I've also disabled all add-ons but the problem persists. For now i just turn off the COOD-E whenever i want to play online games, but i would like to figure out what the COOD-E is doing every 50-80 seconds that causes my whole network to stutter!

Any ideas?

Guides & Tips / Stream Windows audio (including Spotify!) to Cood-E!

Hi!
While we're all waiting for a proper Spotify (Connect) add-on for Kodi, i can really recommend TuneBlade in case you want to listen to for example Spotify music from your Windows desktop/laptop computer on your TV using the Cood-E player.

Steps on your Cood-E:
  • Enable Zeroconf (go to Settings, Services, ZeroConf, enable the option
  • Enable AirPlay (go to Settings, Services, AirPlay, enable at least the top-most option, the rest is up to you. You don't need iOS 8 compatibilty mode btw.

Steps on Windows desktop/laptop
  • Install TuneBlade: http://tuneblade.com/ (free version is perfect for our purpose). This is a great and free alternative to Airfoil, which by the way is a paid program and i never got working properly.
  • TuneBlade needs the Bonjour service, so if you don't have it yet, it will ask you if it may install it. Click yes.
  • Start TuneBlade and click its icon in the tray bar. Now click Cood-E. It may have to search for a while. Just be sure the two devices are of course on the same local network.
  • Your Windows system audio (including music coming from Spotify) will be streamed to your Cood-E! Quality seems quite good actually, and by default the delay is about 2 seconds. Far from fast enough for gaming etc., but fine for just music!

I'm just leaving this here: if anyone got Spotify working on the Cood-E (or any relevant info about it), please share it here so we can all benefit! I'm especially curious about solutions that don't use libspotify (since it's a deprecated library), and add-ons that implement Spotify Connect functionality.

Software / SMB "Error 2 Share not Available"

Hi!
I added some video sources (shared folders on my Windows 10 pc) to play content from. It worked fine, but yesterday suddenly i got the message that 'This content is no longer available' when i select a file to play it. I tried re-adding the folders, so i go to Files, Add source, Windows network (SMB) but when i click it, i immediately get the error "Error 2: share not available". I rebooted all devices (router, Cood-E and PC) but the problem persists. I googled around a bit and also tried manually adding a network source by using the IP-adress of my PC, but the connection just times out. I can see the shared folders and play content on other devices succesfully (tried on 2 laptops and 2 phones). I didn't change any network-related settings on both my PC and the Cood-E.

So i can't get the one thing i bought my Cood-E device for (stream content from my network) to work... :( Any ideas?

Update: tried soft-resetting the Cood-E again by pulling the power cable. After booting, the SMB shares worked fine again. So strange :S Why would this happen in the first place? And why is it suddenly fixed? What do i do when the problem returns? I can't use an unreliable streaming box... :(

Update 2: the fact that soft-resetting the Cood-E sometimes solves a problem shows that we really need a way to just fully restart the device from the menu! I don't want to blindly fiddle around in the back of the tv cabinet to find the Cood-E power cable each time i want to restart the device (which apparently is necessary every now and then). Please just give us an option to soft restart!

I enabled and paired my Cood-E TV with my phone, but how do i get it to play the phone's audio stream?

Software / CEC + Remote Control + restart

Hi!
Just bought a Cood-E TV and really liking it so far while i work out how it all works :)

I have some questions:
1) How do i enable CEC on the Cood-E? On my TV it's enabled, and it used to work fine with my old WD TV Live media box
2) Quite often, say 10-20%, a key press on the remote control doesn't seem to register, while sometimes it registers 4 clicks at a time. I point it quite directly towards the Cood-E. It makes the device feel a bit unresponsive. Is this a known issue?
3) Might be a stupid question, but here goes: how do i restart/reboot the device? Some add-ons ask this, but it is unclear to me how to do this. Pulling the power plug every time i need a reboot seems a bit of a hassle.
4) Is it intended design that the ports on the device are a bit recessed into the device itself? I have tried 3 different HDMI-cables but all of them are very picky when it comes towards processing the signal from the Cood-E towards my TV. A slight movement of the devices makes my TV loose HDMI signal...

Some bugs/weird things:
1) In the Get Add-ons section, what are "Kodi CZ & SK Doplnky" and it's deprecated XBMC-counterpart? I can't uninstall them, as they reinstall themselves back every time, even the one that says it's deprecated and should be uninstalled.
2) The add-on "Install Add-ons by language" has an update available, but it doesn't update. Well it does, but then it says there's still an update available... at any rate it doesn't go away from the "Available Updates"-section.
