COOD-E is completely obsolete. No current Kodi version means plugins that are out of date and no longer maintained. I bought an NVidia Shield: much better in every aspect.

Hardware / Re: DTS HD / Dolby TrueHD pass-thru

I did some research and it seems most Kodi stream boxes have this issue. It's because Android doesn't support HD audio. Kodi displays DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD, but it's not passed into the HDMI stream because of Android. As for Jeremy reporting that is does work for him, I'm sorry but I highly doubt that. Either he mistakes something like DTS:EX for HD audio, or he's lying.

They do that every time something comes up that's hardware related. Can't stream high bitrate blu-ray iso's? Must be  your cables! The real reason of course is that the box itself is unable to get full 100Mbs speed when streaming. Same thing here. It's about whether your receiver supports HD audio, not about what brand it is.

Anyway, I'm getting tired of this. HD audio doesn't work, blu-ray rips don't and using a USB drive as cache for streaming doesn't work either, so you can't stream/torrent anything that's larger than internal memory.  I'm thinking about getting something more flexible like an Intel NUC.

Software / Factory reset
« on: January 07, 2016, 12:36:15 AM »
Tried to follow the guide but right after step 4 (Wipe data/factory reset) the cood-e will reset, boot again and start installing updates. Is this supposed to happen? I can't wipe cache and enter factory mode without rebooting and entering recovery mode again.

Software / Re: Music library problem with accented letters in names

It's even worse with series / movies with Japanese characters: filenames are invisible, plugin's show empty titles in a list, etc.

I think the question is why doesn't cood-e support unicode?

It's possible  to enable "mouse mode", but you need a programmable universal remote, like a Logitech Harmony. When you add the kodi remote manually by recording the IR command, you also get some extra commands. Pressing 0 will make a mouse cursor appear on screen.

Actually you need a mouse even for some of the Cood-e configuration menu's. It's impossible to remove a bluetooth device without it.

Software / Bluetooth keyboard pairing problems
« on: October 15, 2015, 11:57:01 AM »
Recently I tried to pair a cheap Maxxter bluetooth keyboard with the Cood-e. The pairing was successful, however Cood-e did not respond to any keyboard input (it work without problems with a PS3). Not only that but the fact it was paired caused a lot of CPU load to the point I couldn't play video anymore (massive amounts of stutter).

So, then I tried to unpair the keyboard, but found out you can't do that with the remote control! Seriously, you should try this yourself: it's not possible to activate the "configure" button in the BT setup screen. I think it's weird there are still parts in the UI that need you to connect a mouse to be able to use it. I managed to do it by using my Logitech remote and pressing '0' for mouse cursor, but it shouldn't be like that.

Off topic / legal status of streaming mediaplayers [dutch]
« on: September 18, 2015, 02:30:29 PM »

Interessant, alhoewel de gedaagde "fabrikant van mediaplayers" niet genoemd wordt, valt de cood-e tv duidelijk ook onder de bedoelde mediaplayers.

Hardware / Re: Find cood-e on my harmony one?
« on: September 18, 2015, 02:19:37 PM »
You can add the cood-e manually by having the harmony record the IR codes. You don't need to record all of them. Downside is you have to configure the entire "activity" as the harmony doesn't know what kind of device it is.

Useless for you maybe  >:(

Well, no one asked you to hijack my thread...

Install my audio addon, find it in my signature... :)
It will blow your mind :D :D
Installed it, but as expected no minds were blown.  It's useless. Your script is about enabling stereo down mix, my problem is about HD audio pass thru. Those are different things.

What I need is access to the options below:

Including the ability to set the audio output device probably.

in "guisettings.xml" the hd audio passthrough is disabled by default:
<truehdpassthrough default="true">false</truehdpassthrough>
<dtshdpassthrough default="true">false</dtshdpassthrough>
Setting these values to true doesn't change anything unfortunately.

I get the impression the cood-e development team just disabled a bunch of options they didn't like/understand/whatever.  :( Disappointing really, when internet streaming is possible, local media streaming should be too.

Software / Stuck in dialogues with only sliders
« on: September 14, 2015, 11:27:48 AM »
Small bug, but annoying. For instance, if you go to the configuration settings of the "Dim" screensaver, you have a slider to set the dimming level. However it's currently impossible to save a new setting, because once you activate a slider, you can't change the focus to the "Ok" button. The only thing you can do here is press the "return" button, but then the new setting doesn't get saved. It's the same for other dialogues which only have sliders.

Well you can connect a mouse to be able to press "ok", but that's a bit too much.

Also a reboot / power off option would be nice. I don't get why this is blocked, even in the Kodi remote app.

Hardware / Re: No sound from DOLBY or DTS movies

When they don't have the licenses, they can't offer decoding. It's that simple. There used to be player apps for ipad that could do DTS/DD, but it was removed because it was  unlicensed.

Meanwhile, I still want to know what's the deal with (lack of) DTS-HD/Dolby TrueHD pass through.

DTS-HD/Dolby TrueHD works on passhtrough here, testing with a old(er) Yamaha amp.
Please let me know what kind of AMP you use so i can check into it

Gr, Jeremy

I'm using a Pioneer VSX-922-K. It supports the HD formats. When playing a DTS HD soundtrack I only get DTS pass-through. Same with Dolby TrueHD.

Also there's no option to "Enable Dolby Digital transcoding" that you mention in with the latest firmware.

Its a software issue, as they said before, its not licensed as its a streamer and mainly not used for playback.

I'm (me and my friend) working on a fix for all android based KODI players.
We hope to release tomorrow, please keep an eye on the forums.

Will post it here..
No, this is different. I'm not talking about decoding DTS/Dolby, but passing through the signal to a capable receiver. You don't need a license for that.

Also I did some research and other players based on the same Amlogic S805 chipset seem to be able to forward DTS HD and Dolby truHD. However with the current firmware there's no option to enable this.
